Find mining boring? Here's a mod that adds some more ores to Minecraft:

GemsMod:

This mod adds 13 new ores, and 14 new gems into minecraft, which can be used to make tools and armor. It also makes mines a lot more interesting. Also, gems spawn in already made worlds, you can find them if you travel far enough away from the already generated land!

Added first nether ore, Nether Crystal, burns twice as long as coal in the furnace

INSTALLATION:

• Download Minecraft Forge and GemsMod
• Open .minecraft
• Open bin folder
• Open minecraft.jar with WinRAR or 7zip
• Delete META_INF folder
• Drag files from Forge and GemsMod
• Start minecraft

Sapphire(3nd Best)
Ruby(4rd Best)
Quartz (Common)
Red Diamond (Most rare, 2nd Best)
Jade(High Enchantments)
Mexican Fire Opal (Low uses, high power)
Amethyst (Low uses, high power, high enchantability)
Citrine(medium uses, medium power)
Onyx(Low uses, high enchantablility)
Uber(The Ultimute Gem, when put made into a block, allows you to see through the world and find mines)
Green Tourmaline:(high power, low durability)
Crimson Topaz(high power, high durablitiy)

Iron:250 uses
Emerald:400 uses
Sapphire:1000 uses
Ruby:550 uses
Quartz:200 uses
Red Diamond: 3000 uses

All gems make Armor, Swords, Pickaxes, Axes, Shovels, and Blocks.

HOW TO INSTALL THE TEXTURES:

• Download Vattic's textures
• Open .minecraft
• Open bin
• Open minecraft.jar using WinRAR or 7zip
• In minecraft.jar, open mods folder
• Drag all files in Vattic's Textures into mods folder in minecraft.jar EXCEPT ARMOR FOLDER
• Go back to minecraft.jar
• Drag the armor folder in Vattic's textures into minecraft.jar
• Run Minecraft
